From Finn’s Point (29 miles, approx. 30 minutes) and Route 295 north: Take right out of parking lot and bear right onto Rt. 632 (Lighthouse Rd.). Go approx. 3 miles to Route 49, turn left and go about 1 mile to first light. Turn right onto Rt. 551 (S. Hook Rd.) Continue 5 miles to ramp of Interstate 295N. Follow Route 295 north to Exit 18. At the top of the exit ramp, go through the first traffic light. At the second traffic light make a left onto County Route 667 (Delaware Street) and follow Paulsboro Directions below.

From Rt. 295 south: Get off at Exit 18 (Clarksboro, Mt. Royal, Paulsboro) Take first exit ramp on right towards County Route 667. At top of ramp make left at traffic light onto County Route 667 (Delaware Street) and follow Paulsboro Directions below. Paulsboro Directions: There will be a Valero station on your right. Bear right at the fork in the road onto S. Commerce Street. At traffic light (library will be directly in front of you), make right onto State Route 44 (Broad Street) and a fast left onto N. Commerce Street. At railroad tracks, N. Commerce Street becomes Mantua Avenue. Stay on Mantua Avenue until 2nd Street. Make left onto 2nd Street. Make left into sports complex for Lighthouse parking.

From East Point (50.1 miles, approx. 67 minutes): Follow East Point Rd. (which becomes Glade Rd.) to Rt. 47. Turn left onto Rt. 47 north for 5.2 miles at the intersection of Rt. 649 (Mauricetown Bypass). Turn left onto 649, over the bridge to Buckshutem Rd (Rt. 670). Turn right onto 670 and travel 15.8 miles to the intersection with Rt. 49. Turn left onto Rt. 49 west for 20.3 miles to Lighthouse Rd. (Rt. 632). Left onto Lighthouse Rd. and go approximately 3 miles to Lighthouse.

From Tinicum (29 miles, approx. 30 minutes): Leaving the lighthouse, make right out of sports complex parking lot onto 2nd Street. Make right onto Mantua Avenue. At railroad tracks, Mantua Avenue becomes N. Commerce Street. Stay on N. Commerce Street until traffic light. Make right at traffic light (library on right) onto State Route 44 (Broad Street). Stay on Broad Street for two blocks. At traffic light make left onto County Route 667 (Delaware Street). (Eckerd Drugs on right, St. Paul’s Church on left). Make first right after Interstate 295 overpass, following signs for Interstate 295 south. Make right at traffic light onto Berkley Road. Stay in right lane. Make right onto Interstate 295 south. Take Interstate 295 south to Exit 1C. (Salem County Route 551 - Hook Road). Follow Route 551 approximately 7 miles to its end at Route 49. Turn left at the traffic light (a shopping center is straight ahead). Go approximately 1 mile on Route 49 east to the first road on the right, Lighthouse Road (Rt. 632). Follow Lighthouse Road about 3 miles to Lighthouse. ** Open for Challenge, but not for climbing.

From Finn’s Point (50.1 miles, approx. 67 minutes): Take right out of parking lot and bear right onto Rt. 632 (Lighthouse Rd.). In about 3 miles turn right onto Rt. 49 east. Travel 20.3 miles on Rt. 49 east through Bridgeton (broad St.) to Rt. 670 (Buckshutem Rd.) (tricky intersection). Take a right on to Rt. 670 for 15.8 miles to the blinker light at Rt. 649 in Mauricetown. Turn left and follow Rt. 649 over bridge to the light at Rt. 47. Turn right onto Rt. 47 south for 4 miles and turn right onto Rt. 740 (Mackey’s Lane) 0.4 miles to Stop sign. Left on Main St. Go 2.7 miles through Heislerville to Stop sign. Right on East Point Road 2.6 miles to Lighthouse Rd. and lighthouse. An alternate is to go past Mackey’s Lane to Glade Rd. (Rt. 616). Go right on Glade and follow as indicated below.

From Cape May (36.3 miles, approx. 56 minutes): From State Park take Lighthouse Ave. to Sunset Blvd. Turn right on Sunset 1.8 miles to Rt. 626 at traffic light. Turn left onto 626 north and stay on it for 6.7 miles to Rt. 47. Turn left onto Rt. 47 north and travel 17.3 miles (milepost 20.8). Turn left at light continuing on Rt. 47 for 5.9 miles to Glade Road. Go left on Rt. 616 (Glade Rd), which becomes East Point Rd. Continue on East Point Road 2.6 miles to Lighthouse Rd. and the lighthouse.

From Hereford Inlet (15.8 miles, approx. 26 minutes): Follow Chestnut St. heading away from beach (west). Turn left on New Jersey Ave. Right on Rio Grande Ave. Take Garden State Pkwy south. Bear right at route 109. Bear right at jug handle before second traffic light. Continue on route 9 south (Sandman Blvd.). Turn left at first light (Seashore Road). Go right at first traffic light (Sunset Blvd.). Take the left at Lighthouse Ave. and then turn left into Cape May Point State Park and parking for lighthouse.

From East Point (36.3 miles, approx. 56 minutes): Lighthouse Road to East Point Road (which becomes Glade Road) to Rt. 47. Turn right on Rt. 47 south for 5.9 miles to the traffic light. Turn right continuing on Rt. 47 south for 17.3 miles where there is a traffic light at Rt. 626. Turn right onto 626 south and stay on it for 6.7 miles to a traffic light at Sunset Blvd. Turn right onto Sunset, go 1.8 miles and turn left onto Lighthouse Ave. Follow to Cape May Point State Park and the lighthouse.

From Tatham Life-Saving Station (3.8 miles, 10 min.): Take 117th Street west one block to 3rd Ave. (Ocean Drive) (0.1 miles). Go left and follow Ocean Drive (3rd Ave.) 2.2 miles over two bridges to the light at Rt. 147. Turn left and continue on Rt.147 which becomes Spruce Ave. and then New Jersey Ave. for 1.5 miles to Chestnut Ave. Take a left on to Chestnut Ave. and continue for a couple of blocks to the lighthouse.

From Cape May Lighthouse (15.8 miles, approx. 26 minutes): From Garden State Pkwy north, Exit 4 (Wildwoods/Rio Grande), turn right at end of exit ramp onto Rio Grande Ave (Rte. 47). Follow signs to the Wildwoods. Continue on Rio Grande over the bridge and into Wildwood. Turn left on New Jersey Ave. and follow it through Wildwood into North Wildwood to Chestnut Ave. (2 blocks past the Anglesea Fire Hall). Turn right onto Chestnut Ave. and follow it through to the lighthouse.

From Ocean City US Life-Saving Station 30 (28 miles, 41 min.): From station, follow 4th St. west to Wesley Ave. Go left on Wesley Ave. and follow to 9th St. Take a right on to 9th St. and continue out of Ocean City on Stainton Memorial Causeway to the light in Somers Point. Make a left hand turn on to Mays Landing Rd. and proceed to the next light at Rt.9 (New Road). Make a left and follow to the Garden State Parkway south. Take the parkway south to exit 10 (Stone Harbor) (2nd traffic light). Make a left at the light on to Stone Harbor Blvd. and go 5 miles to the second traffic light. Turn right on 2nd Ave and travel 1 mile to 117th Street and the Station on the right.

From Hereford Inlet Lighthouse (3.8 miles, 10 min.): take Chestnut Avenue west to New Jersey Avenue. Turn right onto New Jersey Avenue, which becomes Spruce Avenue and Route 147. Continue west on Route 147 staying right after going over the bridge. At the light (Ocean Drive) (1.5 miles), go right and continue into Stone Harbor. Just past the bend in the road (2.2 miles), turn right on 117th Street and drive one block to 2nd Avenue and the Life-Saving Station is on the left (0.1 miles).

From Stone Harbor (Tatham) Life-Saving Station (28 miles, 41 min.): Take 2nd Avenue north 1 mile to 96th Street. Turn left on 96th St and continue 5 miles to the traffic light at the Garden State Prkwy. Make a right onto the Garden State Parkway North and continue to exit 29. Take exit 29 to Route 9 (New Road) and proceed to the first light at Mays Landing Rd. Turn right and follow to the light at the Stainton Memorial Causeway (Rt. 52). Make a right and follow the Causeway into Ocean City. The Causeway becomes 9th St. Take 9th st. to Wesley Ave. Go left on Wesley and continue to 4th St. Take a right on to 4th St. and follow to the corner of 4th St. and Atlantic Ave. and the Life-Saving Station.

From Absecon Lighthouse (21.3 miles, 36 min.): Take Rhode Island Ave. west to Atlantic Ave. Go left on Atlantic and follow to N. Arkansas Ave. Make a right on to N. Arkansas Ave. and follow to the Atlantic City Expressway west. Take the Atlantic City Expressway to exit 7 Parkway South. Go South on Parkway approximately 8 miles. Get off at exit 30 on to W. Laurel Dr. Continue through the first light on to MacArthur Blvd. Follow through the next light on to the Stainton Memorial Causeway (Rt. 52). Continue into Ocean City where the Causeway becomes 9th St. and follow the 9th St. directions above.

ABSECON LIGHTHOUSE

From Tucker’s Island (31 miles, approx. 42 minutes): Turn left onto Route 9. Follow Route 9 to the Garden State Parkway south (7.3 miles). Take Parkway south to Exit 38 (Atlantic City Expressway) (13.6 miles). Follow Expressway into Atlantic City (7.7 miles) and follow Atlantic City directions below.

From Ocean City 30 Life Savings Station (20.6 miles, 35 min.): From the station, follow 4th St. west to Wesley Ave. Go left on Wesley Ave. and follow to 9th St. Take a right onto 9th St. and continue out of Ocean City on Stainton Memorial Causeway to the light in Somers Point. Continue straight through the light onto MacArthur Blvd. and proceed through the light at Rt. 9 onto West Laurel Dr. Follow West Laurel Dr. to the Garden State Parkway north. Take Garden State Parkway north to exit 38 Atlantic City Expressway. Take Expressway into Atlantic City and follow directions described below. Atlantic City Directions: Take Exit #1 toward Uptown and Brigantine. Take Exit E (left exit) and follow the ramp to the right toward a stoplight for Route #30 and Absecon. Turn left onto Route #30 and follow this into town, Route #30 will change into Delaware Avenue. Continue to the intersection of Atlantic Avenue. Turn left onto Atlantic. Follow Atlantic to Rhode Island Avenue and turn right to the lighthouse. Park on Rhode Island Ave. or in the parking lot behind the lighthouse, off Vermont Ave. (Lighthouse is 5 blocks north of Showboat Casino and near the new Revel Casino). Alternate Atlantic City Directions: Continue past Exit #1 to Atlantic Ave. Turn left on Atlantic and continue to Rhode Island Ave. and continue as above.

TUCKER’S ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE

From the North: Take Garden State Parkway south to Exit 58, exiting onto Route 539, heading south to Tuckerton. Turn right onto Route 9. The entrance to the Tuckerton Seaport site is on Route 9, on the left, directly across from Lake Pohatcong. From Barnegat Light Historical Museum (22 miles, approx. 38 minutes): Take Central Avenue /Long Beach Blvd. south to Rt. 72. Follow Route 72 west to Route 9. Take Route 9 south into Tuckerton and continue through the Route 539 and Route 9 intersection. The entrance to Tuckerton Seaport site is on Route 9, on the left, directly across from Lake Pohatcong.

From Absecon (29.8 miles, approx. 41 minutes): Take Rhode Island Ave. west to Atlantic Ave. Go left on Atlantic and follow to N. Arkansas Ave. Make a right onto N. Arkansas Ave. and follow to the Atlantic City Expressway west. Take the Atlantic City Expressway to exit 7, Garden State Parkway north. Take the Parkway north to Exit 50(13 miles). This will put you on Route 9 north. Follow Route 9 through New Gretna to Little Egg Harbor Township (approximately 7-8 miles). The entrance to Tuckerton Seaport site is on Route 9, on the right, directly across from Lake Pohatcong.

BARNEGAT LIGHT HISTORICAL MUSEUM

From Sea Girt (59.1 miles, approx. 84 minutes): Take Beacon Blvd. west (0.8 miles) to 7th Ave. (Rt. 71). Go left on 7th Ave. to Sea Girt Ave.(0.6 miles). Take a right onto Sea Girt and continue (1.1 miles) to Rt. 35. Turn right on Rt. 35 heading north to Route 138 west and follow signs to the Garden State Parkway south. Take the Parkway south to Exit 63 (Long Beach Island) (33.7 miles). Take Route 72 east to Long Beach Blvd. (7.5 miles). Turn left onto Long Beach Blvd. north and drive 8.6 miles to the fork in the road. Take the right fork (Central Avenue) to 5th Street. The Museum is on the left hand side.

From Barnegat Lighthouse (less than 2 miles, approx. 5 minutes): Turn left out of the parking lot onto Broadway. Travel 3 blocks south to 5th Street. Turn left onto 5th Street and continue to Central Avenue. Turn right onto Central Avenue. The Museum is at the corner on the right.

From Tuckers Island (21.8 miles, approx. 33 minutes): Take Route 9 north to Route 72 east (7.6 miles) to Long Beach Island. Turn Left on to Long Beach Blvd. Drive 8.6 miles north to the fork in the road. Take the right fork (Central Avenue) to 5th Street. The Museum is on the left hand side.

From Sea Girt (53.1 miles, approx. 68 minutes): Follow the same directions under Barnegat Lighthouse Museum above up to the fork in the road. Then take the left fork (Broadway), approximately ¼ mile to the Barnegat Light State Park’s parking lot.

From Barnegat Museum (less than 2 miles, approx. 5 minutes): Turn onto 5th Street, heading west towards Broadway. Take 5th Street to Broadway. Make a right on Broadway and travel three blocks north to the Barnegat Light State Park’s parking lot, on the right.

From Tuckers Island (21.8 miles, approx. 33 minutes: Take Route 9 north to Route 72 east to Long Beach Island. Turn Left onto Long Beach Blvd. Drive 8.6 miles north to the fork in the road. Take the left fork (Broadway), approximately ¼ mile to the Barnegat Light State Park’s parking lot.

From Twin Lights/Sandy Hook - “Shore Route” (27.2 miles, approx. 53 minutes): Go south on Route 36 to Sea Bright. This is now Route 36/Ocean Ave. Follow Ocean Ave. thru Sea Bright, Monmouth Beach (here it is named Ocean Blvd.), and Long Branch. After the Ursula Plaza on the right, make a right at the light and get on Route 36/Joline Ave. Take Route 36/Joline Ave. to the intersection of Route 35. Take the jug handle to Rt. 35 south, following signs to Asbury Pk. and Seaside Hts. Stay on 35 south for twelve (12) miles. (Note: Travel time on Rt. 35 will take approx. 35 minutes with normal traffic.) After about 12 miles Rt. 35 intersects with Sea Girt Ave. Take a left on Sea Girt Ave. and continue to Route 71 (7th Ave.) (1.1 miles). Make a left on 7th Ave. and go 0.6 miles to Beacon Blvd. Turn right on Beacon and continue 0.8 miles to the lighthouse.

Alternate Directions From Twin Lights/Sandy Hook - “Parkway Route” (29.6 miles, 51 min.): Go south on Rt. 36 to Rt. 520 (Rumson Rd.) and go west across Sea Bright Bridge. Continue to the Garden State Parkway south (7.6 miles). Take Exit 98 to Rt. 138 east. On Route 138 east, go 3 miles to Rt. 35 south. Stay on 35 south for 3 miles and at the 5th light, turn left onto Sea Girt Ave. Follow directions from “Take a left on Sea Girt Ave.”, above (under “shore route”).

From Barnegat Light (57.7 miles, approx. 81 minutes): Take Central Avenue /Long Beach Blvd. south to Rt. 72 (8.6 miles).Take Route 72 to the Garden State Pkwy north to Exit 98. Take Rt. 138 east. Follow directions from Route 138 east, above (under “Parkway route”).

From Sandy Hook Lighthouse (5.7 miles, approx. 15 minutes): At National Park Exit bear right to merge onto Route 36 west and cross over the Highlands Bridge. Stay in the right lane and once across the bridge make the first right turn (follow signs for Highlands Business District). Go to bottom of hill and bear right to go under the bridge and up the hill on the other side. You will be on Highland Avenue; at yield sign continue forward, pass gray condominiums and make the first left onto Lighthouse Road. Take Lighthouse Road up the steep and narrow hill; watch out for oncoming traffic. This brings you into the parking lot of the Lighthouse.

From Garden State Parkway Northbound: Use Exit 105 and follow Rt. 36 east through the towns of Eatontown and Long Branch. In Long Branch Rt. 36 is Joline Avenue. Take Joline Avenue to the intersection with Ocean Avenue/Rt. 36. At the traffic light turn left onto Ocean Avenue/Rt. 36 and continue north 6 miles through North Long Branch, Monmouth Beach, and Sea Bright. At the north end of Sea Bright, cross over the Highlands Bridge. See directions above, following cross over the Highlands Bridge.

From Garden State Parkway Southbound: Use Exit 117 and follow Rt. 36 east approximately 12 miles or until you see the ocean. Turn right just before the Off the Hook Restaurant & before the Highlands Bridge. Take your next right onto Highland Ave. Pass gray condominiums and make the first left onto Lighthouse Road. Take Lighthouse Road up the steep and narrow hill; watch out for oncoming traffic. This brings you into the parking lot.

From Sea Girt - “Shore Route” (27.2 miles, approx. 53 minutes): From Sea Girt Lighthouse, go west on Beacon Blvd. and make a left onto 7th Ave. (Rt. 71) (0.8 miles). Stay on 7th Ave. 0.6 miles to Sea Girt Ave. Make a right on Sea Girt and go 1.1 miles to Rt. 35. Take a right onto Rt. 35 north. Stay on 35 N for 12 miles, through Belmar, Asbury Park, to Eatontown. (Note: Travel time on Route 35 north takes about 35 minutes, with normal traffic). In Eatontown, you’ll come to the intersection of Route 36. Bear right onto Rt. 36 east, following the signs to West Long Branch/Long Branch. Continue with the directions after Ocean Blvd. /Rt. 36 above under “From Garden State Parkway Northbound” above.

From Twin Lights (5.5 miles, 14 min.): Go back down Lighthouse Rd. Turn slight right onto Highland Ave. and go left onto Rt. 36 east. Continue across the Highlands Bridge and take the ramp to Sandy Hook. Stay straight on Hartshorne Dr. for approximately 4.5 miles to Fort Hancock. Take a slight right onto Magruder Rd. and the Lighthouse.

From Garden State Parkway Northbound: Use Exit 105 and follow Rt. 36 east through the towns of Eatontown and Long Branch. In Long Branch Rt. 36 is Joline Avenue. Take Joline Avenue to the intersection with Ocean Blvd. /Rt. 36. At the traffic light turn left onto Ocean Blvd. /Rt. 36 and continue north 6 miles through North Long Branch, Monmouth Beach, and Sea Bright. At north end of Sea Bright exit right onto entrance ramp for Sandy Hook Unit, Gateway National Recreation Area. Take the main park road (Hartshorne Dr.) north about 4.5 miles. At the North end of Sandy Hook you will enter the Fort Hancock Historic District, marked by a sign stating this. Take the road to the right of the sign (Magruder Road). Magruder Road leads right to the Sandy Hook Lighthouse.

From Garden State Parkway Southbound: Use Exit 117 and follow Rt. 36 east approximately 12 miles or until you see the ocean. Cross over the drawbridge, staying in the right lane on the bridge. Once over the bridge exit right onto entrance ramp for Sandy Hook Unit, Gateway National Recreation Area. Stay straight on Hartshorne Dr. for approximately 4.5 miles to Fort Hancock. Take a slight right onto Magruder Rd. and the Lighthouse.

From Sea Girt - “Shore” Route (27.2 miles, approx. 53 minutes): From Sea Girt Lighthouse, go west on Beacon Blvd. and make a left onto 7th Ave. (Rt. 71) (0.8 miles). Stay on 7th Ave. 0.6 miles to Sea Girt Ave. Make a right on Sea Girt and go 1.1 miles to Rt. 35. Take a right onto Rt. 35 north. Stay on 35 N for 12 miles, through Belmar, Asbury Park, to Eatontown. (Note: Travel time on Route 35 north takes about 35 minutes, with normal traffic). In Eatontown, you’ll come to the intersection of Route 36.
